If you take the maximum recommended dosage of 6 per capsules per day, one bottle of Fat Blaster will last 10 days. In other words, you will spend over $70 per month on Fat Blaster. This is WAY too much for this product considering there is no evidence to prove that it actually works.

Zotrim contains the following three ingredients:

Clinical studies have shown that these three ingredients (when used in conjunction in the appropriate amounts) do cause weight loss. However, Zotrim fails to list how much of each ingredient it contains. Therefore, it is impossible to know if Zotrim will cause weight loss.

While we do like the inclusion of Yerba Mate, Guarana, and Damiana, we would like to see another power player ingredient included as well, such as green tea or synephrine.

Zotrim Cost

Zotrim diet pills cost $19.95 for a one month supply. The Zotrim website claims the price is regularly $58.95.

Diet pill companies use this tactic to make you think you are getting a great deal so you will be more likely to purchase their product.

Although $19.95 is relatively inexpensive for a month supply of diet pills, since Zotrim hides how much of each ingredient is included, there is no way of knowing if it will cause weight loss. Therefore, any amount of money is too much to pay for Zotrim.

Zotrim and Clinical Trials

The Zotrim website claims, “We know from our clinical trials that whilst taking Zotrim you can experience an average weight loss of 11 lbs in 6 weeks, with a healthy rate of weight loss of 1-2lbs a week.” This is the only information about their “clinical trials”. There is no information about when, where, or who did the study.

Again, this is common among diet pill companies; they supposedly conduct their own clinical trials, but they are done in-house so they can tailor the results to their desires. We give no weight to Zotrim’s claims about clinical trials because there is no published information.

Zotrim Affiliate Program

Zotrim has an Affiliate Program (pyramid scheme) to help you earn money. In other words, you try to talk your friends and family into buying Zotrim and you get commission for every purchase they make. This is yet another tactic to get more of your hard-earned cash into Zotrim’s pocket. Don’t buy into it.
In addition to the Affiliate Program, you can sell your success story to Zotrim for them to publish on their website. This helps you see there is no credibility for any of these success stories.

Zotrim Guarantee

The Zotrim website says nothing about a guarantee for their product. We emailed their customer service about a guarantee but have not yet heard back from them (it is unusual for us to even get a response after emailing customer service). They do not have a customer service phone number.

Zenalean Pro is a diet pill that is supposed to melt the pounds away. It includes several powerful ingredients, but the possible dangers outweigh the benefits. How to take Zenalean Pro

You are supposed to take one capsule per day for 30 days and then take 60 days off. It is concerning that they give you 120 capsules in one bottle when you should go through that many capsules in a year if you are taking them correctly. Green tea is effective, but not at the levels I’m assuming is in the proprietary blend. The bitter orange may be effective depending on how much synephrine is in there and I’d like to see more research on guarana by itself before I suggest that it will be effective on its own.

In addition, MetaboSpeed includes HCA which is possibly under scrutiny by the FDA.

MetaboSpeed’s Marketing

It’s fairly obvious that MetaboSpeed is relying heavily on the celebrity image to market to their product. I see this as a flawed tactic. Unfortunately, it may work. But why does the fact that a celebrity tried a product all of a sudden make it more effective or legitimate?

On top of that, I’m not totally convinced (even by the ‘magazine articles’) that the celebrities pictured used the product in the first place.

I liked their small disclaimer:

“*These celebrities have been associated with products we sell, or specific ingredients contained within our products. This does not imply that they either endorse or promote any of these products unless otherwise specified.”

Also, I wasn’t too impressed with the MetaboSpeed website in general. They provide almost no information about the actual product itself – I had to go to Lab 88’s website just to get the ingredient list.

MetaboSpeed’s Price

For a one month supply of MetaboSpeed you’ll pay $39.99 (plus $9.95 shipping and handling). While this isn’t a bad price for an effective diet pill, MetaboSpeed isn’t that effective diet pill. The amounts of the ingredients are simply too low to be effective.

MetaboSpeed’s Guarantee

I was glad to see that they at least offer a 30 day guarantee….until I started reading about it. But I’ll simply quote some of it so you can see for yourself:

This guarantee policy allows you to get your initial payment back via a 100% credit for your purchase (excluding shipping and handling) towards the purchase of other nutraceutical dietary supplement products.

So the ‘guarantee’ is only for credit to buy other products made by their company.

Also, here’s the loops you have jump through just to get that:

A horrible restocking fee policy. Also, just fyi, there are plenty of companies that offer refunds on opened bottles so the “per United States Law” bit is rediculous.

Conclusion

MetaboSpeed contains a few good ingredients, but the amounts of those ingredients are likely to be much too small to be effective. I’m not a huge fan of how they’re marketing the product, but that’s just me. The price is decent, but the guarantee is as close to ‘not a guarantee’ as you can get. I suggest looking elsewhere.

Some of the ingredients in Aspire are good and some are hype. If they disclosed the amounts of each ingredient, it would be much easier to gauge it’s effectiveness.

Aspire’s Marketing

First, the positive. I like that Aspire lists all of the ingredients in the different formulas and even has a little information about each one. This can be found by going to the FAQ’s, then clicking the question about the ingredients. While I wish they told us how much of each ingredient is in the mix, they’ve done more than some companies that I’ve seen.

What I don’t like about Aspire’s marketing is that the entire website feels like some hyped up sales pitch that almost tries to play off of people’s insecurities. You’ll see comments such as, “Do You Feel Like Crying When You Look In The Mirror? Use Aspire And Laugh Out Loud When You Get On The Scale” or “heads will turn wherever and whenever you walk by.”

Oh, and this was a favorite:

You should not be spending your time worrying or crying about your weight. If you really want to be slim and gorgeous and wear those hot bathing suits you’ve seen on the beaches (and only dreamed of wearing), we have the answer you’ve been waiting for.

As if we have to be slim and skinny in order to be happy and beautiful. I hope you can see through the shallow marketing.

I don’t however, see any big red flags other than the distasteful sales copy.

Aspire’s Money Back Guarantee

I was glad to see that Aspire offers a 90 day money back guarantee. Anything over 60 days in this industry is pretty good, so 90 days is a pretty solid guarantee.

I’m somewhat confused at something in their guarantee. Here’s what it says (emphasis added): “If you’re not happy with Aspire, contact us within 90 days of your purchase date and return the unused portion (even if you’ve used everything), and you’ll get a full refund (less shipping), no questions asked!”

The first part makes me believe that you can only get a refund for the unused (or unopened) bottles. But the second part in parenthesis makes it sound like you get a refund on all bottles, even if they were used (and are now empty).

I don’t have any big reason to believe that this ambiguous terminology isn’t intentionally trying to trick consumers, but If I were you I’d play it safe and only count on getting refunded for unused bottles.

Aspire’s Price

A one month supply is $49.97. If it’s effective, this isn’t a bad price for a weight loss product. Of course, they suggest you take it for 3 to 6 months (likely to pad their pockets a little more).

Conclusion

The Aspire weight loss product consist of a pretty good ingredient profile. Many of the ingredients have been proven, and some have not. Overall, as long as the ingredients are included in the correct amounts (which we can’t verify since they don’t disclose it) than it’s likely to be fairly effective. I like their guarantee and the price is decent. I don’t, however, like the manner in which they’ve marketed their product. You be the judge.

Hydroxycitric Acid Update

On May 1, 2009 the FDA issued a warning to consumers to stop taking Hydroxycut-branded products. Over more than 7 years they have received 23 reports of health related issues with those taking Hydroxycut-branded products. The main health concern appears to be serious liver-related problems. Iovate Health Sciences Inc., the makers of Hydroxcut, have voluntarily recalled all of the products under question in the FDA’s report

Common symptoms of liver complications include:

• jaundice (yellowing of the skin)
• brown urine
• light colored stools
• unusual tiredness
• stomach pain
• itching
• loss of appetite
• weakness
• vomiting

In light of the recent FDA warning concerning the possible dangers of Hydroxycut-branded diet pills, many believe that the associated health risks are likely due to the inclusion of the commonly used ingredient Hydroxycitric Acid, or HCA. And while according to the FDA, “The agency has not yet determined which ingredients, dosages, or other health-related factors may be associated with risks related to these Hydroxycut products. The products contain a variety of ingredients and herbal extracts.” you can never be too cautious.

So, while further study and research is needed to confirm the link between HCA and the liver problems, until proven otherwise any products that contain HCA are no longer recommended on this website.

On May 1, 2009 the FDA issued a warning to consumers to stop taking Hydroxycut-branded products. Over more than 7 years they have received 23 reports of health related issues with those taking Hydroxycut-branded products. The main health concern appears to be serious liver-related problems.
