CritiCalorie's Top Diet Pill Pick
Do we ever rate a diet pill positively?. Yes (rarely). Why aren't we recommending PatenTrim? We're looking for clinically-researched ingredients, at the right (that means clinical) dosage. There are a few diet pills that have chosen this better route, and our favorite is Apidexin. You can read our review or go to the official site.
PatenTrim Review
Patentrim is my top contender in the weight loss category. We rank it first because its green tea component is decaffeinated which I am a fan of. It also has more clinically-backed ingredients than any other pill we’ve reviewed — at the right amounts.
***PatenTrim Review Update***
Because of the recent concern and newly found evidence that the ingredient Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA) may be linked to certain health concerns dealing with the liver, we are no longer recommending PatenTrim as a diet pill. PatenTrim contains Super CitriMax, whose active component is HCA. The FDA, in a recent warning about Hydroxycut-branded products, said: “The agency has not yet determined which ingredients, dosages, or other health-related factors may be associated with risks related to these Hydroxycut products.”
While FDA hasn’t specifically identified HCA as the culprit, some believe that it may responsible for the health problems. One can never be too cautious. As such, all products containing HCA are no longer recommended on this website.
For more information on the FDA’s warning against Hydroxycut and possible dangers to the liver due to HCA, see the Hydroxycut Review.
PatenTrim’s Ingredients
ChromeMate (200 mcg) - Chromium Picolinate, as it stands on its own has conflicting research as to its efficacy in regulating blood sugar levels. However, ChromeMate has been clinically shown to be absorbed 18 times more than the standard chromium picolinate. The result: weight loss through blood sugar regulation. ChromeMate is expensive because it is a patented ingredient. As such, you’ll find competitor diet pills including (if any) perhaps 20-50 mcg. PatenTrim impresses us with their inclusion of the clinically correct amount: 200 mcg.
Super CitriMax (1,400 mg) - Super CitriMax’s active component is Hydroxycitric Acid, or HCA. Super CitriMax is actually a standardized level of HCA (which comes from the South Asian fruit Gardinia Cambogia). The nice thing about Super Citrimax is that it has a stimulating effect a la caffeine or green tea, without causing jitters. A few studies supporting Super Citrimax’s efficacy:
- Asia Pac J Clin Nutr. 2007;16(1):25-9. Especially effective when combined with Gymnema sylvestre — you’ll see why that’s important in a moment.
- Diabetes Obes Metab. 2004 May;6(3):171-80. The study was published again here, adding more legitimacy to the study.
Green Tea Decaffeinated 50% EGCG (1,000 mg) - Green tea is probably our favorite diet pill ingredient. It effectively ingreases the metabolism’s burn rate (which means you’ll be burning more calories and losing weight), has a whole slew of other healthy benefits, and is backed by more research than any other diet pill ingredient available today.
Also, please notice that PatenTrim’s green tea is decaffeinated. PatenTrim is specifically geared toward people that don’t do too great with higher doses of caffeine.
Probably most notable, PatenTrim includes 1,000 mg of green tea at 50% EGCG (think of EGCG as its potency). To give you a comparison, most other diet pills we’ve reviewed have anywhere from 50 mg to 150 mg. The minimum dosage required (based on piles of research) for effectiveness is north of 300 mg. PatenTrim has effectively tripled that. I could go on, but the points probably been made.
ForsLean - 10% Forskohlin (250 mg) - ForsLean is a patented (see the patent here) ingredient that’s been clinically proven to aid in fat lipolysis (burning fat) and retaining muscle mass. While you may not initially think this is such a big deal, it is a big deal! When you’re dieting and calories are being burned left and right, it’s important that you don’t lose muscle mass. Not only for health reasons, but also because you’ll look better as a result.
Also, muscle mass requires more calories to maintain. So a more muscular individual will, all else equal, have a higher caloric burn rate, resulting in lower bodyfat.
Some literature supporting Forskohlin as it relates to burning fat cells:
- Horm. metabol. Res. 19 (1987), pp. 358-360
- J. Pharmacology and Experim. Therapeutics 238 (1986), pp. 659-664
- J. Pharmacology and Experim. Therapeutics 244 (1988), pp. 852-858.
Gymnema Sylvestre - 25% gymnemic acids (200 mg) - Gymnema is used to help control blood sugar levels. Anciently, people in India would chew a few leaves of Gymnema and it would suppress the taste of sugar (which some use to fight sugar cravings).
Studies conducted in India as early as 1930 showed that the leaves of Gymnema sylvestre cause hypoglycemia in experimental animals. This state of hypoglycemia is explained on the assumption that the drug indirectly stimulates insulin secretion of the pancreas, since it has no direct effect on carbohydrate metabolism. ((Source: http://www.gymnema.com/))
We regret we don’t have citations for those studies done in the 1930s. However, one study from 2005 validated the insulin secretion caused by Gymnema sylvestre: H Asare-Anane, GC Huang, SA Amiel, PM Jones & SJ Persaud (2005) Poster Presentations - Stimulation of insulin secretion by an aqueous extract of Gymnema sylvestre: role of intracellular calcium. Endocrine Abstracts, Volume 10 DP1.
BioPerine (5 mg) - Don’t balk at the seemingly low amount of BioPerine in PatenTrim. More isn’t needed. I’ll include a section of our own review regarding BioPerine. The gist of it is that it aids in absorbing nutrients — a critical component that most diet pills don’t look at.
Asian cultures anciently have used long and black pepper for medicinal/health purposes, but obviously actual research is much more welcome. To that end, this was of particular interest from the Department of Biochemistry and Nutrition, Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore, India ((Crit Rev Food Sci Nutr. 2007;47(8):735-48.)):
Many physiological effects of black pepper, its extracts, or its major active principle, piperine, have been reported in recent decades. Dietary piperine, by favorably stimulating the digestive enzymes of pancreas, enhances the digestive capacity and significantly reduces the gastrointestinal food transit time. Piperine has been demonstrated in in vitro studies to protect against oxidative damage by inhibiting or quenching free radicals and reactive oxygen species. Black pepper or piperine treatment has also been evidenced to lower lipid peroxidation in vivo and beneficially influence cellular thiol status, antioxidant molecules and antioxidant enzymes in a number of experimental situations of oxidative stress. The most far-reaching attribute of piperine has been its inhibitory influence on enzymatic drug biotransforming reactions in the liver. It strongly inhibits hepatic and intestinal aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase and UDP-glucuronyl transferase. Piperine has been documented to enhance the bioavailability of a number of therapeutic drugs as well as phytochemicals by this very property. Piperine’s bioavailability enhancing property is also partly attributed to increased absorption as a result of its effect on the ultrastructure of intestinal brush border.
PatenTrim’s Proprietary Blend?
PatenTrim doesn’t hide behind the guise of a “proprietary blend”. They disclose every ingredient at every amount. We find this very, very refreshing. Fenphedra and Thermodrenix are the others that disclose. We recommend them as appropriate.
PatenTrim’s Marketing
We like the fact that their site isn’t full of hype. It doesn’t try and get you emotionally charged to make an irrational decision on some sub-par diet pill product. They’re making an effort to educate their visitors on the ingredients instead of filling their heads full of (probably fake) testimonials and (doctored) before & after photos.
No AutoShip Program
They don’t have one, and we like that.
PatenTrim Pricing
We noticed that PatenTrim recently lowered their priced from $69 per bottle to $59 per bottle. Obviously the lower price point makes this great diet pill an even better value. We also don’t if this is a temporary or permanent price change. You will find other diet pills at a cheaper price but I suggest you pay a little extra and get ingredients that actually work. You do get discounts as you buy more bottles at a time.
A word should be said here about pricing for diet pills. You’ll find some costing as little as $25. The key though isn’t what it costs nearly as much as what you’re getting. With most every diet pill, you’re not getting enough ingredients to make even one iota of difference.
Now - be careful and don’t be duped by some pill that’s purposely SUPER expensive (Zantrex-3, those devious people from Basic Research, comes immediately to mind), where their whole focus is to make you think, because of the price point, that you really are getting something that’s top quality when you’re not.
In either case, look at the ingredients and then decide if the price fits your situation.
Lifetime Moneyback Guarantee
You can’t beat it. We like to see anything more than 60 days, so a lifetime guarantee obviously fits the bill, and then some. You are able to return one used bottle plus all unopened bottles. This is the best in the industry.
PatenTrim Review Conclusion
We’re recommending PatenTrim completely. We love the formulation. We love the fact that every ingredient is clincially backed and they haven’t included a single fad ingredient (such as Hoodia, that piece of garbage). We love the fact that they’ve fully disclosed how much of each ingredient — they haven’t hidden behind a proprietary blend. We’re fans of their marketing and lifetime moneyback guarantee. We’re giving a very enthusiastic thumbs up.

I liked your artical - and I have read several of your reviews.
I am intrested in trying the Paten Trim - my question is does it help
suppress your hunger?
July 10th, 2008 at 9:12 am
Hi Donna, from our Super CitriMax review:
“HCA ‘has been clinically shown to suppress appetite and inhibit fat production, without stimulating the central nervous system.’” Source: http://www.interhealthusa.com/faqs/citrimax_faqs.aspx

I have tried many different diet pills and always felt jittery and or very sick to my stomach. Are these common side effects for PatenTrim?
February 13th, 2009 at 10:50 am
I haven’t had any reports of people being jittery — though that could simply be the fact that nobody’s bothered to report it to me. You may want to contact them directly.
February 17th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
if you had to choose between the most effective in your opinion - Thermodrenix or PatenTrim?
February 18th, 2009 at 9:52 am
If you can handle the caffeine in Thermodrenix, I’d say go with that one. However, if this is your first attempt at using a diet pill or if you don’t do well with caffeine (jitters) then I’d do PatenTrim. They’re very similar formulations (though PatenTrim also has ChromeMate), with the only real difference being the fact that PatenTrim uses decaffeinated Green Tea.
Great question Maria. It’s nice to see people making decisions NOT based on emotionally-filled-hype-laden sales copy!

I live in India. How do I buy Paten Tirm and how much does it cost including shipping
February 19th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
Can you tell me how Patentrim compares to Caffeine Free Hydroxycut?
February 20th, 2009 at 9:43 am
Hi Dan,
I really can’t give you an exact comparison because Hydroxycut doesn’t disclose HOW MUCH of the ingredients they’re actually including (they say it’s to protect their formula, but it’s almost always because they don’t include enough — not talking about MuscleTech here directly, just diet pill companies generally).
I’d call them and tell them you’d like more info.
February 21st, 2009 at 1:31 pm
this is my first time to take diet pills, so i want to ask u about ur opinion in lypo 6 x comparing it with Patentrim ?
February 22nd, 2009 at 3:17 pm
Hi Cal,
Im debating whether to order Patentrim or Thermodrenix. In your opinion would you say the caffeine makes a notable difference to the effects? How does the time it takes to lose weight vary between the two products? What is the international shipping times like for the two products? Ive got about 20lbs id like to lose in the next 6 weeks but would ideally only be on diet pills for a month. Any advice would be great.
Many thanks
February 22nd, 2009 at 5:03 pm
Also how do Patentrim and Thermodrenix compare with Fenphedra? Sorry for all the questions but i dont have the time and more importantly the money to buy a pill that doesnt work!
Many thanks
February 25th, 2009 at 11:14 am
Hi Tasha,
As far as shipping times go, I honestly have no idea! I would contact the companies directly. Thermodrenix is caffeinated, so the results will be stronger with it. Make sure you’re also drinking plenty of water, exercising, etc.
February 25th, 2009 at 11:14 am
I prefer both of them over Fenphedra because their ingredients are clinically backed. However, Fenphedra is quite effective as well.
February 25th, 2009 at 11:15 am
Hi Alaa,
Read both reviews for those pills and you’ll find my stance fairly clear there
February 28th, 2009 at 8:44 pm
Hi Cal,
Thanks for all the great info.
I’m trying to decide between Thermodrenix and Patentrim. I tolerate caffeine well. I drink 4-6 cups of tea per day w/ out a single jitter. If I go with Thermodrenix, should I cut back on my other caffeine intake?
March 1st, 2009 at 6:04 pm
Question: I do not drink anything with caffeine because at one time many years ago I had a bout of tachycardia and I was told to avoid it. I also avoid any pills that have caffeine or strong stimulants. I’ve been searching for a diet pill that does not contain high doses of stimulants or caffeine yet is effective. Would this one be in that category? If not, what can you recommend?
March 1st, 2009 at 7:55 pm
hi cal,
i was wandering which product shows result faster thermodrenix or paten trim and do i have to change my eating habits? pease get back to me i really need help!
thank you
March 2nd, 2009 at 9:26 am
Thermodrenix is caffeinated, so you’ll see its results faster, most likely. Changing your eating habits would be GOOD, but it’s not required.
March 2nd, 2009 at 9:28 am
Ellie, Green Tea is still a high stimulant, so PatenTrim (or any diet pill for that matter) probably isn’t a wise choice.
March 2nd, 2009 at 9:30 am
I would cut back Christine — mainly because that’s a LOT of caffeine at that point, and I think moderation is pretty important.
March 2nd, 2009 at 4:54 pm
Hey,
I am on Lexapro for Anxiety. Would taking PatenTrim or Thermodrenix be safe?
March 3rd, 2009 at 7:15 am
hi, Cal, does PatenTrim have any side effect? Thanks!
March 3rd, 2009 at 11:22 am
Which product do you feel works better PatenTrim or Orovo Detox? I have heard good things about both?
March 4th, 2009 at 9:27 am
To be honest, they’re both targeted at very different things. Orovo Detox is a detoxification formula, whereas PatenTrim focuses on appetite suppression and boosting your metabolism. I don’t see them as mutually exclusive, but complimentary.
March 4th, 2009 at 9:30 am
Hi Yannan,
Not that I’ve heard of, though some people do feel pretty amped from even decaffeinated Green Tea, so if you’re one of them, be aware of that.
March 4th, 2009 at 9:34 am
Hey Sami, I wouldn’t recommend taking any stimulant if you have problems with anxiety.
March 7th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
Does patentrim or thermodrenix interfere with taking high blood pressure med (very low does ace inhibitor)?
March 8th, 2009 at 5:34 am
Where in Thailand can I buy Patentrim or thermodrenix.
March 8th, 2009 at 5:45 pm
I looked at both the recommended supplement websites (patentrim.com and thermodrenix.com) and noticed that they are very much alike. They use the same graphics and layout. Additionally a whois of their domain shows that they both use the same domain proxy to hide their registrant info. They also both use the same COMODO SSL.
Being that they hide their domain info from the same proxy registered with the same registrant (godaddy) and use similar graphics and layouts (pricing graphics are strangly similar as well) I feel that this is the same company selling the same thing but one with caffine.
It also makes me question the legitimacy of these reviews when the two recommended products are from the same company? Is this just a sales website?
March 9th, 2009 at 7:54 am
hey Cal.. My aim is to lose 10kg and im wondering about how long would it take me to lose that weight using Patentrim, and how many bottles should i order? ive been dieting since i can remember and i did manage to shed around 20kg, but this last ten i refusing to budge! I would love to use a faster pill like thermodrenix but i worry that the caffeine will affect performance on the piano, is that true?
March 9th, 2009 at 11:51 am
can you buy either thermodrenix or patentrim over the counter anywhere or is it all by website? thanks…love the reviews!

March 12th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
Does anyone actually lose weight? There’s not any success stories here and very little on the other reviews. Is there a different area to look for the positive results that people have experienced?
Thank you,
Arizona*
March 13th, 2009 at 11:52 am
I noticed that my question has been deleted from this forum without an answer. I’m going to assume my post was “accidently” removed so I will ask it again.
IS THERE A DIFFERENT LOCATION THAT SHOWS THE ACTUAL POSITIVE RESULTS OF WEIGHTLOSS FROM THESE PRODUCTS? THERE’S NOT MUCH OF THAT INDICATED WHICH IS WHY WE ARE INQUIRING.
Thank you again,
Arizona~*
March 14th, 2009 at 6:49 pm
Hey Cal,
I was just curious about the exact amount of caffeine. Could you just clarify if it does or does not have caffeine. While it sounds great that it’s at least 50% decaf, it says that it uses like 3 times the amount of green tea as other pills so in actuality it would have more caffeine than other pills. Right? Or wrong? I’m confused.
March 17th, 2009 at 7:27 am
Hi Cal,
What would you recommend? PatenTrim or Apidexin? I’ve read pretty good comments about both of these diet pills. Please advise. I”m looking for something that will do the job effectively, without causing too much caffeine jitters.
thanks!
March 17th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
Hey Cal,
I have a question for your that may be hard to answer, but, how do we know your not getting payed by PatenTrim to advertise this product to us? I’m not blaming you for anything, i just want to have some good proof so i can believe you. I’m sure you understand where im coming from here
Thanks
March 19th, 2009 at 7:49 am
Hi Chris, great and valid question. There are about 30 products listed on Criticalorie where I get a commission, and PatentTrim is one of them. Even some products where I don’t review them favorably, I still receive a commission. It helps justify the time I spend on the site. (You can read more about this on the About page). At any rate, this is why I also open up comments, so people can post back their results to validate (or make me revisit for further investigation) my own reviews.
March 19th, 2009 at 7:50 am
Hi Adeline, if you’re worried about jitters, then I’d go with PatenTrim, where they’ve used decaffeinated Green Tea.
March 19th, 2009 at 7:54 am
Hi Angie, it’s a decaffeinated green tea (the entire lot of it).
March 19th, 2009 at 8:01 am
Hi Arizona,
People can post back if they’d like, but most have questions. I don’t gather anecdotal stories, but let the ingredients (and ingredient research) stand on its own merits. Anecdotal evidence is far too unreliable.
March 19th, 2009 at 8:07 am
Hi Dawn,
Not that I’m aware of.
March 19th, 2009 at 8:09 am
Hi Danielle,
How fast you lose that weight is dependent on so many variables, I’d be hard pressed to give you even a best guess — especially without a whole bunch of details about your lifestyle and body.
March 19th, 2009 at 8:11 am
@Rick,
I think it was answered above in the comments, or on the Thermodrenix comments that PatenTrim and Thermodrenix are both by the same company. It’s very standard for diet pill companies to sell different products through different websites. I recommend both as the top because they both have excellent ingredient profiles (better than I’ve found anywhere else).
March 24th, 2009 at 6:42 am
Hi Cal,
I was going for the hoodia P57 which got great reviews on the dietblogtalk website. It is supposedly a consumer review but it sounds a bit too good to be true. What do you think of these reviews, are they fake? The Patentrim sounds good, i just wonder if the good reviews are genuine. I like that it doesn’t contain stimulants but also i cant afford to waste money on a product that doesn’t work. Thanks. Val
March 24th, 2009 at 8:19 am
Hi Val,
Anything that’s boasting hoodia gordonii as their flagship ingredient isn’t likely to be effective at all. You can see my full Hoodia P57 review here. That should answer your questions about the effectiveness of the product. If you’re looking for an effective diet pill that doesn’t contain some of the strong stimulants that others do, Patentrim is a good choice.

Hey there, I was wondering out of your top picks if any of them swell once in the stomach. I had gastric bypass over 5 years ago, and I am mostly looking for something that burns fat and would help my appetite to be suppressed. I lost over 100 pounds but never lost the last 30 to be in my weight range (I’m 5′4 and I weigh 170 and I am 33yrs old). I am ready to drop the last of this weight! I just wouldn’t want to use a product that swells to cause you to feel more full. I’m not asking for medical advice but since you are so familiar with the products and their ingredients that you would know if any of them contained such things. Thank you for making it so easy to get the low down on all these products! Sincerely, Hillary101
March 25th, 2009 at 7:55 am
Hi Nimco,
Everybody’s body is different and react differently to supplementation so it’s pretty difficult for me to tell you that any one diet pill will make you lose your required 10kg. PatenTrim and Thermodrenix are thetop rated diet pills based on their ingredient profiles. They are likely to be very effective. I’d start there. You can also see the Diet Pill Comparison page for others that I’ve rated highly.
March 25th, 2009 at 8:10 am
Hi Hillary,
Thanks for your question. Many appetite suppressants use ingredients that are fiber-based. These dietary fibers absorb water in the stomach and are meant to help you feel fuller. So yes, there is some swelling that takes place. I don’t know that it’s a large amount of swelling, but in theory, the ingredient is designed to swell. Clinitrim, for example has a dietary fiber called glucomannan. Being that you had gastric bypass a while back, I would suggest talking to your doctor about some of the products and their ingredients just to be safe. The assurance of a doctor’s opinion is worth a lot.

Is it safe for breastfeeding??
March 26th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
What kind of results are usually typical with one bottle and how long does it take?
March 27th, 2009 at 2:19 pm
i was thinking about getting this or thermodrenix OR phentramine-D, which would you say works better? and do either work with little to no excercise, because i work at a computer all day and have barely any time to exercise.
and is this the best way to go, buying online, because i wont have a family doctor in my new town for at least a few months, and i have a hard time believing any of the reviews i see how do i know these are not fabricated? where can i look for honest reviews?
thx!

i mean, these sound legit, but is there any other review panel/webiste/blog that i can turn to for some further reviews?

Can someone taking a Mono Amine Oxydase Inhibitor (MAOI) take
PatenTrim or Thermodrenix? Are you aware of any diet pill that is safe to take with an MAOI?
Thank you.

Hi Cal,
I was wondering how many pounds do you lose with PatenTrim and how fast?
- Thank you Chloe
March 30th, 2009 at 2:30 pm
I ordered Patentrim on 3/1/09, received it just a few days later (which was great) and immediately began taking the pills as directed. Let me backtrack by stating that I have tried a few other diet pills in the past and none have really had any amazing results, so I was very excited when I read about Patentrim and the “different” ingredients that would prove successful. I have just recently hit middle age and have for the first time in my life started taking my health and future very seriously. I joined a new gym, I workout with a personal trainer 6 times a month, I workout on my own 3-4 days a week, I have started back watching what I eat, only healthy things for me now. So I ordered Patentrim and wanted it mainly for a “jumpstart” to my new self. Everyone feels more committed to a new lifestyle (exercise and healthy eating) once they see a little change for the better. However, I must say that in almost an entire month of taking these pills as directed, I have seen no change because of them. I have gained muscle - that’s due to working out regularly, but I have not lost a single pound - I have actually gained a few pounds - muscle weight, but have not lost any fat weight.
Just wondering if anyone has had similar issues (no results at all) or if I have misread the promises about this highly regarded pill.
March 31st, 2009 at 3:03 pm
I have been using hydroxycut and I am starting to notice some benefits. recently i have started to get diarrhea as a side effect. Is this a common side effect with thermodrenix or patentrim?
April 2nd, 2009 at 8:13 pm
Will paten trim be as effective if it is taken with a meal versus 30 minutes prior to eating. I took the 4 capsules intending to eat after 30 minutes but it ended up being 45-50 and I became extremely nauseated. It lasted for about 2 hours and now I am scared to take them again. Any advice. I really want to continue taking them. Help.
April 4th, 2009 at 10:11 am
Just wondering why my post was removed from this site! I was questioning others if they had gotten the same results as me…NONE!
April 5th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
What side effects ( if any) have been reported with PanenTrim, and is it safe to take with an anti-depressant and meds. for hypertension ( controlled) ? Thanks.
April 5th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
hi Cal,
i cant decide between patentrim and thermodrenix and would like to know which you think is best for getting rid of belly fat fast. Also, i have type 1 diabetes, would it still be OK for me to use the pills? i need to lose about 25lbs in 2-3 weeks (may not sound realistic lol). Is patentrim and thermodrenix a better option than alli diet pills? is it more effective? thanks x
April 5th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
btw my diabetes is controlled by using insulin injections x
April 7th, 2009 at 9:29 am
Hi Cal
In general, after taking diet pills like Paten Trim for a period of time, then going off them..Will your metabolism be slower than before? has your body has become accustom/reliant on the pills?
April 8th, 2009 at 8:29 am
Pamela,
I would certainly consult your doctor before taking any supplements like weight loss pills if you are nursing your child.
April 8th, 2009 at 8:41 am
Jean,
I would imagine that you would see pretty quick results but, results will vary between different people so it’s difficult to say. The good thing is that they have an awesome money back guarantee in case you don’t see the results that you’re wanting.
April 8th, 2009 at 8:48 am
Hi Nicole A,
As mentioned in a previous comment, I stay unbiased by being affiliated with many different diet pills (from which I get a commission). I even get some commissions from diet pills that I gave horrible reviews to. See the about page for more info on this topic.
I personally think that you can find honest reviews on this site.
As far which diet pill will be more effective, if you are able to handle the caffeine, Thermodrenix will probably work the fastest. The caffeine is basically the only difference between Thermodrenix and PatenTrim. If you’re looking for something without the caffeine, PatenTrim is probably your best bet.

Hi Carol,
Thanks for your questions. I would consult a physician in your case with the MAOI. Take a list of the ingredients to the doctor and he should be able to better inform you.

Barb,
As far as effectiveness, it’s always best to follow the recommended dosage directions given with the product. But if you’re feeling sick because of not eating, I would certainly eat. It’s possible that it may not be as effective, but it’s a lot better that getting sick all the time. This may also be a good question for PatenTrim. Shoot them email (shown at the top left of their website).

NonoDog,
I haven’t seen many reported side effects for PatenTrim as of yet. Keep an eye on these comments to see if some are reported. Concerning it’s safety with your meds, I would consult a physician or a pharmacist to make sure that any diet pill is safe.

Jill,
If you don’t take the pill for too long, I don’t believe that your metabolism will be much slower than before. Your body may have an adjustment phase, but I wouldn’t think it would be too drastic.
April 8th, 2009 at 10:35 am
Derek,
I have seen anyone report such side effects with either pill.

SugaPlumFairy,
Considering the diabetes, I would consult your physician before taking any diet pill. The main difference between PatenTrim and Thermodrenix is the caffeine, so it comes down to your caffeine tolerance. In my opinion, both are better than Alli.

Hi Cal,
I’ve heard that Apidexin is better than this, what do you think?
April 10th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
Kas,
Both pills have an ingredient profile that looks quite good. Apidexin is one of pills that I recommend. I do still stand in favor of PatenTrim’s ingredient profile (mostly because of the green tea).

Hi cal,
I am currently in the US Army in Iraq and looking into getting back in shape for when I go home to see my family. I was interested in this and Thermodrenix pills but I am worried about the effect they will have with working out combined with the heat in this country during the summer when it can reach 140 degrees F (60 degrees C)
April 13th, 2009 at 7:49 am
Hi Chris,
If you are able to work out in the heat normally without much fatigue or exhaustion, then supplementation with either of these two pill shouldn’t be a big problem. If, when you work out, you already on the verge of dehydration, exhaustion, etc. then I would maybe say that you should use some caution when taking the pills.

How does PatenTrim compare to Leptorexin? Also, what about Nuphedrine?
I too only need to loose about 30 pounds, and have spent a small fortune on diet pills that do not work.
I am on my 2nd bottle of Leptorexin with no results yet. And I just ordered the NUphedrine, and probably should not have!
Any advise?
Thanks

Hi Donna,
The reason that I’ve rated PatenTrim as one of the best diet pills is because they 1. use proven ingredients and 2. fully disclose the amounts of in the ingredients so we can see that they are in high enough dosages to be effective. About Nuphedrine, if you read my review of that diet pill, you’ll see that it wasn’t very favorable. I would suggest going with a more proven diet pill (like PatenTrim). If you can’t return Nuphedrine, than you may was well give it a shot.

Hello, i must say this website has been extremly helpful in informing me about the many different diet pills! Though, i was just wondering if you could possibly suggest one that would be best for me. I am 17 years old, a peared- shaped, and weight 135. I am extremly healthy, and excersize often, but i just cant seem to slim down my thigh and buttocks area. This pill looks really good, but i was wondering if you could suggest any other possiblites? I was hoping to find a pill that is on the cheaper side, has small amounts of caffine- no caffine, and does not have to be taken 9 times a day! Also, i am looking for one that does not have extreme side effects like vomiting. I hope you can help to suggest some, though i know i have made it some what difficult!
Thank you!

I have a slight thyroids problem (clinical hipo- thyroids). is it safe for me to take PatenTrim? I have used lipo 6 and had no problems at all, but didn’t see any resouls either! Thanks

Do you think PatenTrim works better than SoloSlim? I have been taking SoloSlim for a couple months now, my first month I was extremely faithful…lost 5lbs the first week then about 2lbs a week after tha first initial week. Second month I went off of it and gained it all back…and now I’m back on it and have lost the 5lbs.

Hi!
I am planning on taking diet pills for the first time
The problem is, I only want to take them for a little
while, just until I burn some fat. I am not overweight,
but I HAVE A lot of fat.
If I stop taking the pills after a while…will I regain weight or fat?
In other words, will I rebound?
I am very concerned about this. I do excercise and eat well
thanks!

I’ve been taking the PatenTrim pills for a full week now with no change to my weight. I’m eating healthy (in fact, following Weight Watchers diet plan) and working out 4 times/week.
Does it take awhile for the pill to “take effect”?
I’m not looking for a miracle -just a 1-2 pound fat loss each week….and was hoping PatenTrim could help.
April 24th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Hi.us I LOVE all your reviews but I have a question. If PatenTrim supresses hunger and fat from developing, does it also help burn fat (if you exercise or not)?
April 24th, 2009 at 10:06 pm
Hi Cal! I ordered Patentrim yesterday and I’m really excited to try it out. I have been counting calories and exercising (30 min. of cardio + 20 min.of weight training 4-5 times a week) for a little over a month and I’ve lost 14 lbs. I was wondering if you would recommend a detox before taking Patentrim to maximize results? If so do you have any you would recommend? I currently weigh 206 lbs. and Im trying to get down to 160, so any advise you have is welcome. Thank you and I’ll keep you posted on my experience with Patentrim.
April 28th, 2009 at 1:30 pm
I did not have any results with this pill. It says it guarantees weight loss in 7 days, I followed the directions, ate well and exercised and I lost 0 pounds. I’m not impressed at all and will try and return it. I didn’t have any side effects other than it usually makes you have a BM within 30 minutes of taking it. I’ll try hydroxycut max next, I’ll take the side effects if it gets results!
April 30th, 2009 at 8:49 am
Is PatenTrim available OTC anywhere such as GNC or other health food stores?
May 1st, 2009 at 1:34 pm
Since the FDA just pulled Hydroxycut off the shelf because of the hydroxycitric acid causing liver damage. Isn’t PatenTrim bad to take as well?
May 6th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
Cal any thought on Topical gels, some of the described effects i have noticed when taking Pills before (slight burning sensation in problem areas). Oh and if hydroxycut has been recalled does Patentrim have similar ingredients or Thermodrenix?
May 7th, 2009 at 10:10 am
Hi Kristy,
I would suggest looking at the comparison page. It has the most up-to-date recommendations for diet pill. As you now see on the PatenTrim review, it is no longer a recommendation due to the new findings on Hydroxcyut (and possibly HCA). Lipovox is a very natural diet pill that’s based on the “superfoods.” You may want to look at that one.
May 7th, 2009 at 10:17 am
Hi Lily,
I would consult a physician if you have a history of thyroid problems.
May 7th, 2009 at 10:31 am
Diana,
If you keep up a good exercise routine, you should be able to keep the weight off.
May 7th, 2009 at 10:42 am
Leona,
PatenTrim should help you burn fat. However, you’ll now notice that PatenTrim is no longer recommended. See the review for details.
May 7th, 2009 at 10:49 am
Myra,
I wouldn’t think that a detox would be necessary. And I haven’t really reviewed or researched many so I don’t know that I’m much help in recommending one. Sorry I’m not much in that regard.
May 7th, 2009 at 11:00 am
Hungry@Work,
Not that I know of.
May 7th, 2009 at 11:01 am
Kami,
It’s possible. For that reason it is no longer recommended on this site.
May 7th, 2009 at 11:18 am
I haven’t looked much into topical gels yet, but maybe give it a look. You’ll see on both the PatenTrim and Thermodrenix reviews that they are no longer recommended. They contain Super Citrimax, which contains HCA. For that reason, just to be safe, I don’t recommend them anymore.
