Hydroxycitric Acid Update

On May 1, 2009 the FDA issued a warning to consumers to stop taking Hydroxycut-branded products. Over more than 7 years they have received 23 reports of health related issues with those taking Hydroxycut-branded products. The main health concern appears to be serious liver-related problems. Iovate Health Sciences Inc., the makers of Hydroxcut, have voluntarily recalled all of the products under question in the FDA’s report

Common symptoms of liver complications include:

  • jaundice (yellowing of the skin)
  • brown urine
  • light colored stools
  • unusual tiredness
  • stomach pain
  • itching
  • loss of appetite
  • weakness
  • vomiting

In light of the recent FDA warning concerning the possible dangers of Hydroxycut-branded diet pills, many believe that the associated health risks are likely due to the inclusion of the commonly used ingredient Hydroxycitric Acid, or HCA. And while according to the FDA, “The agency has not yet determined which ingredients, dosages, or other health-related factors may be associated with risks related to these Hydroxycut products. Vitamin C has many healthy benefits, but it has not been shown to contribute to weight loss.

Some studies have shown Chromium Picolinate contributes to weight loss. However, other studies have found the opposite. We cannot back Chromium until more conclusive research is done.

Hoodia Gordonii is a popular diet pill ingredient. Despite all the hype, there is NO clinical evidence showing hoodia actually contributes to weight loss. Don’t be fooled by the endorsements of celebrities; hoodia will not help you lose weight.

Apple cider vinegar is used as a home remedy to treat various conditions; however, there is no evidence to show apple cider vinegar contributes to weight loss.

Unfortunately, Nitetrim fails to disclose how much garcinia cambogia it contains, making it impossible for this Nitetrim review to determine if there is enough garcinia cambogia included to be effective.

Ginger root is used to calm the stomach, as it reduces stomach acid. It does not contribute to weight loss.

Bladderwrack is used as a laxative. There is no evidence that Bladderwrack directly contributes to weight loss.

Bromelain is an anti-inflammatory. There is no research to suggest Bromelain contributes to weight loss.

Nitetrim Trial Offer

Nitetrim offers a trial offer. However, the website is contradictory on the terms of the trial offer. The website says they have a 15 day trial offer, but when you click on the link about the trial offer, it says the offer is 30 days. Regardless, if you do not cancel within the trial period, you are signed up for autoship (they automatically send you the product each month and charge your credit card for it). This is listed only in the very fine print, which is probably the way Nitetrim wants it so people are tricked into buying Nitetrim diet pills.

Nitetrim Cost

Nitetrim costs $49.95 per month, which is automatically charged to your credit card. This is way too much for Nitetrim. It contains only one clinically proven ingredient (garcinia cambogia) and does not list how much of it is included.

Nitetrim Guarantee

Nitetrim does have a guarantee, if you can call it that. The refund policy for Nitetrim is incredibly long and complicated. Basically, you can only return unopened bottles and if you cancel within 7 days of the next shipment, you will be charged a 30% restocking fee plus another $6.95. You can only get a refund within 30 days of purchase.

Nitetrim Conclusion

This Nitetrim review finds Nitetrim diet pills are not worth your time or money. Nitetrim contins only one proven ingredient (garcinia cambogia), and since Nitetrim hides how much of it is included, it is impossible to know if there is enough garcinia cambogia to be effective. The marketing of Nitetrim is confusing and inconsistent. If they can’t even figure out what their policies are, how is the consumer supposed to?
