CritiCalorie's Top Diet Pill Pick
Do we ever rate a diet pill positively?. Yes (rarely). Why aren't we recommending Anoretix? We're looking for clinically-researched ingredients, at the right (that means clinical) dosage. There are a few diet pills that have chosen this better route, and our favorite is Apidexin. You can read our review or go to the official site.
Anoretix Review

Anoretix is one of the few diet pills I’m comfortable recommending. Most of the time when I take a hard look at diet pills I see a lot of the same thing: a bit of caffeine, a bit of hype and…well, that’s just about it. With Anoretix, I was pleasantly surprised to see some quality ingredients in there.
Hydroxycitric Acid Update
On May 1, 2009 the FDA issued a warning to consumers to stop taking Hydroxycut-branded products. Over more than 7 years they have received 23 reports of health related issues with those taking Hydroxycut-branded products. The main health concern appears to be serious liver-related problems. Iovate Health Sciences Inc., the makers of Hydroxcut, have voluntarily recalled all of the products under question in the FDA’s report
Common symptoms of liver complications include:
- jaundice (yellowing of the skin)
- brown urine
- light colored stools
- unusual tiredness
- stomach pain
- itching
- loss of appetite
- weakness
- vomiting
In light of the recent FDA warning concerning the possible dangers of Hydroxycut-branded diet pills, many believe that the associated health risks are likely due to the inclusion of the commonly used ingredient Hydroxycitric Acid, or HCA. And while according to the FDA, “The agency has not yet determined which ingredients, dosages, or other health-related factors may be associated with risks related to these Hydroxycut products. The products contain a variety of ingredients and herbal extracts.” you can never be too cautious.
So, while further study and research is needed to confirm the link between HCA and the liver problems, until proven otherwise any products that contain HCA are no longer recommended on this website.
Anoretix Ingredients
Each of Anoretix‘ ingredients are patented and backed up by research (a rarity in the diet pill industry). I’ve done my best to find that research and highlight in each ingredient’s individual review. While one ingredient, standing on its own, may not produce stunning weight loss (there isn’t a diet pill out there that will), when used in concert, these ingredients pack some good weight loss punch — some of the best I’ve seen. You can click on each of these Anoretix ingredients and find a detailed review about each one.
- Super CitriMax
- Tonalin
- Advantra Z
- NeOpuntia
- Phase 2
- ForsLean
- 7 KETO
- ChromeMate (see also my Chromium review)
- BioPerine
Anoretix Superior Customer Service
As a little test, which I’ll do on occasion, I emailed sales@anoretix.com with a fake inquiry to gauge responsiveness (this was done at 10:30 am, MST):
Hi, my name’s Cal and I placed an order for Anoretix about three weeks ago…still haven’t received it. What’s the deal?
I received a response at 1:18 pm, MST same day asking me if I could supply my full name or an order number so they could investigate further. So, they passed the customer service litmus test.
Anoretix Guarantee
I raved a few days ago about Fentraphen’s 90-day moneyback guarantee and then just about fell out of my chair when I saw the Anoretix guarantee. They’ll guarantee their product for life. This does not mean you can use it all and then send them back empty bottles and want a refund. They won’t refund bottles that are opened (no diet pill company that I’ve found will). What this does mean is that if you order three bottles try one and don’t like it, you can send back the other two a year later and still get a refund. I like this guarantee! Hopefully their competitors will see this and follow suit to give consumers a bit of a break.
Anoretix Pricing
Anoretix is priced to sell. It’s not dirt cheap, but it’s also not overly expensive. Whenever a pill contains patented ingredients, there’s an associated cost for manufacturing that pill. It would follow that diet pills containing these expensive ingredients would cost a bit more. Frankly, I’m surprised they don’t list it 25% higher. I know some other products sell for a lot more when they offer a lot less (Leptoprin, Leptopril and Zantrex-3 come to mind).
Overall Conclusion for Anoretix
I’m thoroughly impressed. With a stacked lineup like they have, it’s hard not to be. Anoretix looks to be a great aid as you consider your weight loss plan.

You’ve written great reviews on both Anoretix and PatenTrim. I feel quite torn in which one to try. How do you think initial weight/BMI/fitness level should weigh into deciding?
February 18th, 2009 at 9:49 am
Hi Anu,
Great question. PatenTrim has a stronger ingredient profile and if you’re already fairly lean and just looking to shed the last few stubborn pounds, it will do the trick.
However, if you’re quite overweight (high BMI but not a lot of muscle) then either product would likely provide the boost you need.

I tried Anoretix since most diet pill review sites love it. I had no results with Anoretix. If anything, it actually made me MORE hungry. I actually gained weight! This pill may be great for other people, but definately not for me.

Hi cal is there anything in Anoretix that would show up in a drug test? How about in Fenphedra? Do you need a prescription for them. What one do you think works better?

Has anyone diagnosed with a Thyroid problem taken these pills?
March 4th, 2009 at 9:28 am
Hi Lisa,
I haven’t had anyone contact me and tell me as much. Sorry I can’t be of more help!
March 22nd, 2009 at 4:28 pm
I am concern about getting anoretix, I checked the website
and there is no contact number. I could not find nothing
on if they use the auto ship program, which I think is a rip-off.
I wonder if you have anything on lipofuze, I have read some
good things about it.
March 23rd, 2009 at 12:32 pm
Sam,
I don’t believe that Anoretix has an autoship.
I’ve put Lipofuze on my list of reviews to do. I’ll try to get it done as soon as I can.
Thanks!

I did some research on Anoretix ingredients.
I found that Advantra z has really bad side effects, being
rapid heart rate, chest pain, seizures, bloody stool, servere diarrhea, vomiting, abdomenal pain, these side effects will not always efect everyone, but at the same time it should be noted on the website to warn people of the possible issues they may be facing when taking this.
I found that phase2 can cause excess gas, noone wants that.
I found that Bio-perine can cause gastroentestinal discomfort, and when taken in high dosages it could be damaging to organs. The site does not list how much bio-perine is in the pill.
I asked you the other day about a product called Lipofuze,
well I did some research on that to.
Lipofuze has 14 ingredients, 7 of the 14 have bad side effects.
I noticed again none of the side effects were noted on the website.
Example of this is Capsoicin, it can cause upset stomach, heartburn, diarrha, and burning. Anybody with acid reflux will suffer from this.
20-Hydroxyecdysone, can cause nausea, bloating, diarrha, and in women it can cause unwanted facial hair growth, and deepening of the voice. I dont know too many women who want that.
I just thought I would let you know what I found out.
I hope it helps someone else out.

” They won’t refund bottles that are opened (no diet pill company that I’ve found will)”
The above statement was given by you in regrds to ANORETIX.
PROACTOL has a better guarantee , 180 days to return the product -even if it is used - all the empty boxes and the blister packs have to be returned -Only condition they have is that the purchase has to be a minimum quantity of 4 months supply of PROACTOL

I have been using Anoretix for 2 days now - no change in weight, does it take longer for some people to start to work????
April 14th, 2009 at 10:24 am
Hi Monica,
I would certainly give it more than 2 days before you decide to stop taking it. Most diet pills with take anywhere from a week to 3 weeks to make a big difference depending on the person. Anoretix has a pretty good guarantee, so you may as well use the bottle that you have. If it doesn’t work and you have other bottles, you can send the other back for a full refund (there’s no time limit on their guarantee).

Hi. I am concerned to see that you no longer are recommending Anoretix. I purchased some about a week ago and I am not sure if I should stop taking it. Does it actually contain HCA? I did not see it listed in the ingredients. Please let me know! Thanks! Kathryn
May 7th, 2009 at 11:16 am
Hi Kathryn,
Anoretix contains Super Citrimax, which contains HCA. There hasn’t been any research that specifically identifies HCA as the culprit in the Hydroxycut problems (yet), but there some that believe it is. However, you can never be too careful.
May 22nd, 2009 at 6:22 pm
Do you ever actually try these or have someone try them? This doesn’t do anything and believe me when I say I have tons of experience with diet pills. Sure wish they’d bring back the good stuff like Ephedrine.

Stephanie,
See the about page for a description of how I review diet pills and why I don’t personally try each one (I’d be one messed up person). Thanks.
