850Hoodia Review (Hoodia850)
850Hoodia (also seen as Hoodia850, they can’t seem to get it straight) is a diet pill that says, “Imagine not being hungry all day without feeling side effects typical of diet pills” (website). They claim to use “100% real Hoodia Gordonii from South Africa.” This is a typical claim from diet pills containing Hoodia. This 850Hoodia review will explore the validity of these claims as well as the marketing techniques and guarantees of 850Hoodia diet pills.
What are the ingredients in 850Hoodia?
The one and ONLY ingredient in 850Hoodia diet pills is Hoodia Gordonii. Each serving (one pill) contains 850 mg of “real” Hoodia Gordonii, hence the name 850Hoodia.
Hoodia Gordonii is a cactus-like plant that grows in South Africa. Natives of South Africa have been using Hoodia Gordonii for centuries for its medicinal properties.
Hoodia has received A LOT of attention in the U.S. in the past several years. It is increasingly popular in the diet pill industry. However, THERE IS NO SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE THAT HOODIA ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTES TO WEIGHT LOSS.
How much does 850Hoodia cost?
One bottle of 90 pills of 850Hoodia will cost you $59.99. The normal dosage is three pills a day, but they do say you can take up to six pills per day. Even at the three per day, you will be paying $59.99 per month. If you take six pills a day, you will be paying nearly $120 per month. This is outrageous. There is NO proof that Hoodia works.
Cut-throat marketing techniques of 850Hoodia
This 850Hoodia review finds that 850Hoodia has some interesting marketing techniques to say the least.
The following statement was found on the 850Hoodia website:
“We don’t use any cheap ingredients like Green Tea because we don’t need to – the product speaks for it self. Remember you get what you pay for. Green tea can be purchased in virtually any supermarket for a dollar or two; that’s why 850Hoodia comes with a whopping 850mg of Hoodia and has no other active ingredients like Green Tea.”
This is quite interesting because green tea has been proven time and again to increase metabolic function, leading to weight loss. Hoodia HAS NOT been proven to contribute to weight loss. Regarding their statement “you get what you pay for,” there are numerous other products containing “real” Hoodia which are sold for much less than 850Hoodia.
Another statement that made me scratch my head was, “Due to limited inventory please limit your purchase to no more than 6 bottles of 850 Hoodia per family.” Anyone who knows anything about marketing knows this makes no sense. Even with limited inventory, why wouldn’t they let you buy as much as you want? Simple marketing gimmicks at their worst.
Does 850Hoodia have a guarantee?
850Hoodia claims to have a guarantee, although I don’t know anyone who would call it that. If you purchase just one bottle and want to return it, you can send it in for an exchange of another product. You can only get a refund if you purchase multiple bottles and return unopened bottles. Again, I don’t know who is coming up with these marketing ideas, but they don’t make any sense.
850Hoodia conclusion
This 850Hoodia review finds this is a typical Hoodia product. There is NO clinical evidence that Hoodia contributes to weight loss. 850Hoodia diet pills are VERY expensive. Do yourself a favor by using a diet pill that uses proven ingredients in proven amounts.
